How to Use Social Media For Sales
Written by Dave Lorenzo on November 3, 2016 / Social Media
This article is about how I use social media for sales and it will help you discover how you can use social media for sales.
You sell stuff. It doesn’t matter what business you’re in. It doesn’t matter if you are a lawyer, a consultant, a pharmaceutical sales representative, the owner of an auto body repair shop or a dentist. Everyone sells.
These days it is easier than ever to introduce yourself to a group of people who can buy from you. One of the most powerful tools you have is social media. It is particularly powerful for our type of sales – relationship-based sales.
Here’s how you can use social media to develop relationships (and ultimately sell more):
Facebook is a platform that is designed to allow people into your “business.” And by that I mean it allows people to find out waaaay more about you than most people should know. But you can use that to your advantage.
Write articles and post them on your website. Post links to those articles on your Facebook page. Host live videos on Facebook and answer questions from people. Live chat with people who have questions about your industry.
Interaction is key. Make people feel welcome.
Use my Facebook Page as an example.
Twitter is great for connecting with influencers. You can reach out via a Tweet to people in the media or people who are industry leaders and they will respond. You can also have conversations with people who may be interested in your services.
Offer deals and specials to people who follow you and they will “retweet” them to their followers. Tweet photos of things happening in your business. Highlight relationships you are proud of.
Most importantly, have conversations with people on Twitter. Share information. Ask questions. Listen.
Connect with me on Twitter to see how I use it. Let’s have a conversation.
Connect with people in your target audience.
Post interesting and informative articles.
Business people read articles posted on LinkedIn. It has enormous reach among corporate executives and professionals.
Look through networks of other people and see who they know. Offer to introduce people in your network to people they want to meet. They will return the favor.
Let’s connect on LinkedIn.
Post photos of your best customers on Instagram and recognize them. Post pictures of the results you get for your clients. Post pictures of work in progress. Use the description section to highlight your sales message.
Make outstanding one-minute videos to help inform and educate prospects on the need for your product and service. Use humor to highlight the fun in doing business with you. Don’t be afraid to show your personal/family side on Instagram. People want to do business with people they like. Use Instagram as a window into your world.
Let’s connect on Instagram so I can see how great your business is.
Periscope
There is great interaction on Periscope. People who use it love it. I use Periscope to answer questions and test marketing messages. I also use it as a broadcast tool to stream events to people.
Have fun with it. Use it to connect with new audiences.
Here is my Periscope page – let’s connect.
No matter which forms of social media you choose, make sure you focus on one thing: Building relationships.
Don’t ask people to buy anything from you until you have delivered value to them
